In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday this week, we at Legacy MedSearch would like to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate family. Do you know how much time we are spending with our “work family”? Our mini-breakdown helps to show how special this coming Thanksgiving Day weekend is for spending time with your “home family”.
So, how much time do you spend with your home family vs work family?
Out of the 168 total hours in a week, we spend at least 40 hours with our work family. That’s 1/4 of our lives (for those of us who work 40 instead of 50 or 60+ hours). Oh, yeah, and say we get a good 8 hours of sleep every night… we’re actually spending more than 1/3 of our time awake with our work family. This chart puts real perspective on where all our time goes!
But, how can our work and home families be so similar, especially in our case?
In our office, we have the blend of our home family and work family. We are in a unique situation in that most our “work family” is truly family, friends of family, or friends we have known so long we consider them family. And because of this, just like your home family, we get on each other’s nerves sometimes. But more often than not – we genuinely like and respect one another!
Some people have what they refer to as “work wives” and “work husbands.” We truly have a “work FAMILY.” It’s a cozy-enough office that we all know each other very well. Many of us have worked together for years. We even CHOOSE to spend time with each other outside of work for our weddings, happy hours, soccer games, brunch, ballets, shooting ranges, and theme parks.
There is also an environment of love and support, brilliant humor, healthy confrontation, intelligent discussion and brutal honestly. And, of course, there’s the shared coffee pot. This brings everyone together in the mornings (and late afternoons *cough* Chris Miclot *cough*).
We grow together and challenge each other. We have the most hardworking, sharp and determined people here and you know what else is great? It’s never boring here!
So, take some time to disconnect & unplug so you can reconnect with the people that mean the most, the people that look up to you, and the people that love you.
We truly are fortunate for our families and we wanted to show them off!
There’s one thing we just can’t all agree on and that’s which Thanksgiving dish is the best! What’s your opinion?
